DESCRIPTION
The project is located in Harbin, a cultural city with a long history, known as the "Ice City" and "Moscow of the East". Sunac One Center Park was built on the original site of China’s first radio station, with a brick-and-concrete structure and eclectic architectural style. The designer aimed to protect, utilize, and rejuvenate the original historical buildings, and to respond to the real needs of the times through contemporary artistic design techniques, in order to create a historical and cultural experience space combining the Eastern and the Western, the past and the modern, which is open, innovative, and with a sense of history and humanity.
In the choice of interior materials, the designer juxtaposed the special material of glass brick and the red bricks of the old building, representing the characteristics of Harbin – “the ice and snow city”, and visually connecting with the past and the present of the building.
The main color of the whole space adopts brownish red, which is close to the red brick color of the original building, with the decoration color of gold, dark green and red, creating a low-key, luxurious and historic space atmosphere. The use of color, materials, shapes and lighting, not only makes every one here feel the prosperous pace of the times, but also glimpse the romantic imprints deposited by the years.
The main hall, with solid brick walls, towering curved roofs and continuous open arches, forms a strong and orderly sense of ritual and vigorous temperament allowing you to appreciate and feel the unique scenery of glass and red brick intertwined, the past and the present. Part of the shape of the customized soft-mounted lamps are inspired from the components of the old-fashioned radio, perfectly integrating history into the present.
