The land of Yan and Zhao has been renowned since ancient times for its talented people and rich culture. With a deep historical context, Splendid Mansion delves into the residential needs of Shijiazhuang's improving demographic. By respecting the natural attributes of the land, the project positions itself as a refined and elegant residential destination in Shimen. From planning and architecture to landscaping, it aims to imbue emotions into the scenery and elegance into the environment, striving to redefine Shimen’s natural and livable character after meticulous refinement.
The project consists of multiple plots with varying land use types. Beyond residential buildings, it includes one office building each on the north and south, a commercial building along Jianhua Street, and community service facilities such as a community lobby, ground-floor shops, elderly care services, health, cultural activity stations, and small open spaces along the southern street. These elements enrich the street life, infusing a vibrant urban vitality and rejuvenating the old city with modern energy.
Respecting the original urban fabric of the area, the project strategically positions high-rise and multi-story buildings to harmonize with surrounding structures. Multi-story residences are placed on the eastern side of the site to minimize the sense of oppression and shadowing effects on neighboring residential communities. High-rise buildings line the bustling Jianhua Street to the west, while the southernmost stylish office tower serves as a landmark within the cityscape. Five high-rise residential buildings behind it are staggered in height, with terraced rooftops, creating a skyline that is both dynamic and rhythmic while blending with the urban aesthetic.
One of the project's highlights is its rich spatial hierarchy and human-scaled vertical gardens. Guided by the design philosophy of "Oriental charm with modern form," the layout incorporates multiple layered ceremonial spaces, including entrance plazas, sunken courtyards, central gardens, strolling paths, alleyways, and private courtyards, echoing the traditional courtyard-style layout of the East. The southern main entrance features a 20-meter-deep forecourt with a drop-off bay and underground parking entrances, ensuring a logical flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The community reception hall serves as an iconic entrance, providing residents with a sense of ceremony and belonging upon returning home. Beyond the reception hall, the space opens up to a 15-meter square sunken courtyard and a 50-meter square central garden, exuding the charm of classical Oriental gardens and forming the primary communal activity space.
The transition from the bustling city to the serene community and finally to private family spaces unfolds through a sequence of tranquil and elegant strolling paths, grouped courtyards, ground-floor elevated spaces, and meticulously manicured plants. Residents can unwind amidst flowing fountains, diverse sculptures, and lush greenery, leaving behind the hustle and bustle of urban life to experience a slow-paced, refined, and welcoming home environment. This creates a comfortable and pleasant homecoming experience.
The architectural style of Splendid Mansion draws inspiration from the principles of beauty in classical Chinese architecture, pursuing unity, balance, proportion, and rhythm. The building forms adopt the classic three-segment division of "eaves, body, and platform," referencing the light elegance of Song Dynasty architecture. The design carefully controls the tone, style, and colors of the buildings, injecting the essence of classical beauty into modern architectural techniques, refining forms, and seeking timeless elegance.
Splendid Mansion 's reflection on and response to new lifestyles are evident in its outdoor spatial systems. The main entrance lobby is functionally complete, offering an elegant sense of arrival for residents. The pedestrian and vehicular systems, vertical greening, water features, pathways, and weather-protected corridors collectively create a comfortable and enjoyable homecoming experience.
