More and more young people are clamoring for "early retirement" these days. Don't go to work, stay away from the inner roll, just "lie flat".
So what are the other possibilities for an ideal retirement? You want to go on a trip anytime?
Or return to the countryside, grow flowers and vegetables? Or playing chess, drinking tea, chatting, staring into space... A happy life?
The owners of this case are a couple in their late 60s. For them, who are about to retire, this is not the end, but a new beginning!
It is for this reason that designers take freedom and flexibility as the keynote in the transformation process to realize the superposition and reconstruction of the new and the old, so that the simple life is no longer boring, so that the time slows down, and enjoy the rare quiet together with the people close to them.
01. Declined to set limits
The French thinker Jean-Jacques Rousseau once said in The Social Contract: "Man is born free, but he is always in chains. In fact, it is man himself who puts chains on man."
Different from the new Chinese style that most middle-aged and elderly people yearn for, the owner and his wife still maintain a young mentality and conform to the current trend of aesthetics.
They hope to BE ON the basis OF minimalism, not set limits, not constrained, in limited space, to their old age life infinite possibilities.
The original wall of the entrance hall gets through, so that the whole space is released, and the genial sunshine pours into it, overlapping with the indoor light.
The original bedroom on the first floor was transformed into a multi-functional leisure area + lounge area. Considering that the couple are getting older over the years, the designer has carefully set up a magical Murphy bed, which only needs a few seconds to turn the bedroom into a tea room.
The wall on one side of this area is also opened and transformed into a window connecting indoor and outdoor, human and nature. Take the window as the mirror, borrow the scene into the room.
Break the space limitation, get the visual extension from inside to outside. Whether it is "lying flat" in bed, drinking tea and chatting with family and friends, or sitting in the couch reading and playing games, you can enjoy the scene outside the window.
In line with the principle of "blurring boundaries", the designer transformed a bedroom on the second floor into an open-plan family sharing area, which is both a casual reading area for the couple and an esports room for their daughter. The recreational areas are interconnected but do not interfere with each other.
02. "Simplification" and "Reduction"
Designers know well how important it is to do "subtraction" for the space, to remove the complicated and redundant decoration, no high saturation color, if there is no texture, to inject the beauty of rhythm into the whole.
It not only keeps restraint and calm, but also does not forget to integrate temperature and enthusiasm into the life of the occupants.
The natural light passes through the white curtain, asperses on the soft sofa, carpet, the light and shadow flows, the space level is richer, the original cold atmosphere is softer and softer.
