DESCRIPTION

Life is a story connecting closely with artistic processing, while architecture symbolizes a compilation of life stories into a collection of poems. As a landmark of Fucheng District, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, Cloud Villa Sales Center undoubtedly intends to break out of trite forms that business and civil culture have generated, collecting urban memories in the form of art exhibition halls, and demonstrating human emotions as well as power through architecture. From the starting point of venues, this project records the history and future of Mianyang as a witness in compliance with the context of the city.
Inspired by the artistic philosophy of modern architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the project is distilled from his concepts and optimizes the rigid structure of a traditional commercial marketing center into a spiral curved surface based on the Guggenheim Museum. The curved wall grows and extends along the boundary spatially, connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces through natural extension and convergence. Meantime, supplemented by modern art of mirror image which renders audience an artistic feeling of time traveling, it evokes the emotional resonance between people and the field. Dismantle the conventional outer construction of buildings and deconstruct the traditional form of space; bring the installation art to the interior architecture and reorganize it into a place dripping with elegant poetic atmosphere.
“Light emanates the atmosphere and feeling of a place, along with the display of a structure”. Guided by natural light into the foyer, the reception desk is connected to the wall, presenting a spiraling dynamic state, and extending the visual focus to the sky with a semi-enclosed curved surface. The designer dissolved the deliberate intention of the symmetrical columns of the original building with an asymmetrical layout, rendering the inherent structural system sense of depth and being distinctive to a greater extent.
The curving wall facade is not an ostentatious artistic decoration, but brings people a sense of calmness while entering the place with leisure steps by a smooth combination of surfaces and lines which outlines the venue. The concept of deconstructivism holds that as the design is detached from planar construction, it will render people different experience from one that is fragmented and folded while they’re visiting the scene, hence integrating the divisions into a consecutive, gradual picture of reality, which moves with the movement of audience.
Like traveling back in time and space, in the end, we are able to encounter gorgeous iridescent view. With “future city, green architecture, sustainable design” as the keywords, the designing purpose of sand table area focus on more on ecology, wisdom and the future: on the platform of sand table area, it is lush green, and the special-shaped glass ceiling lamps are entwined with each other. The intersection of ecology and technology displays the symbiosis of nature and the future, and the immobile design flows along with time while thriving to demonstrate its vitality.
The flexible lines and the special-shaped structure that is filled with architectural elements are dislocated and entangled with each other, forming a place where you can browse short videos or sit and relax at the intersection of curved part. The designer adopts the unique panda elements of Sichuan and accordingly produces cute dolls for display, employing modern techniques to embody the image of Chinese classic culture, which is in line with the future transformative objective of humanistic imagery.
The design of artistic spiral stairs pays more attention to the expression of “dynamic”, and the designer exploits the irregular arrangement of the stairs to reflect the sense of dislocation, so that the stairs look like piano keys being performed to express its unique tunes and rhythms in a silent manner. When people climb up the enclosed curved surface, their experience appears to be more concrete and immersed, and they’d get attracted by the tour itself. The artful design of spatial sequence upgrades the tour to the extreme.
“The center emotional reflection that architecture should have lies in the space itself, which owns an emotional sense of pleasure”. Through the design and transformation of the space, the second-floor region can be more naturally extended towards the outdoor and facing the sun, and the circulation of light establishes a richer spatial layer, which dissolves the sense of boundary brought by the wall and the frame, weakens the sharpness of the jutted building block, and the soft light and shadow are more inclined to touch people’s heartstring, and reach their major emotional reflection with artistic presentation.
The terrace serves as the interface between indoor and outdoor spaces, integrating the change of seasons and the alternation of sun and moon into the space. For the purpose of assimilating into the basic natural surroundings, the color aesthetics are based on low saturation, dissolving the clear border between interior and exterior, allowing art and natural beauty to gradually be nurtured thereby. The design is not just constricted to the rigid concept of commercial space, but utilizes the project as a container for collecting essence of nature, art and future ideals to showcase the spectacle of the city as well as its excellence.
