The designer of this case pursues the restaurant to present unique Chinese cultural symbols, create a benchmark impression of local art restaurant culture, explore the luxurious connotation of Eastern aesthetics, express the charm of mountains, seas, and stars in the space, and perfectly create a luxurious dining experience of Eastern culture.
Puyuehui Cultural and Art Restaurant is located in Rui'an, Wenzhou, with a thousand year old heritage. It is known as the "Land of Neo Confucianism" and the "Southeast Little Zou Lu". Ancient and modern aesthetics blend and innovate here, inheriting the history and spirit of a city with a diverse, inclusive, and beautiful appearance; As a benchmark for high-end luxury restaurants of Ruili Group, it is located on the top floor of Wenzhou Ruili Binhai Hotel in Ruian Binhai New City, with a 99 meter high aerial cultural and artistic restaurant.
The overall design theme of the restaurant is "Mountain and Sea Painting Scroll, Book Fragrance Rui'an", which abstractly interprets the highly representative cultural elements of "movable type printing" in the space, echoing the artistic chandelier in the shape of a book, creating a literary and picturesque atmosphere space; The exquisite and transparent silk screen combines traditional craftsmanship with modern craftsmanship to create a beautiful and exquisite appearance.
The design of the elevator hall and reception area utilizes local architectural characteristics and structural symbols, combined with modern craftsmanship and point art lighting fixtures, to create a dreamy space atmosphere. The walls use the texture of local natural mountains, seas, and stones to shape and express the power and grandeur of the space.
Wang Guowei said, "All language of scenery is language of emotion." Emotion and scenery are interrelated and complementary. The design of the restaurant corridor focuses on scene creation. In order to express the beautiful scenery of the local mountains and seas, as well as the magnificent undulating mountains, the designer combined it with the famous ancient Chinese painting "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains". Through simple and atmospheric design techniques, and the clever creation of micro landscapes on the ground, a virtual and real landscape painting that blends emotions and scenery was presented; Make the entire space dynamic and textured, allowing people to blend in with the scenery, emotions, and scenery.
The design of the private rooms in the eight restaurants is different, but they share the same spirit and culture. The designers interpret traditional Chinese elements in a creative way. The preparation table combines Chinese food box elements with lighting design, echoing the artistic glass screen of traditional Chinese patterns, giving the space exquisite and unparalleled beauty; The modern art form of wooden movable type printing combined with traditional Chinese red and green tones creates an elegant and unique space, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining atmosphere for guests. The overall layout of the restaurant's private rooms is dense and orderly, expressing the etiquette of Chinese cultural hospitality; Rich artistic partitions enhance the inclusiveness and mystery of the restaurant; The use of simple materials emphasizes the meticulous carving of patterns, showcasing the dignified elegance and low-key luxury of cultural and artistic restaurants.

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION

Located adjacent to Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, White Crane Lake covers an area of 10 square kilometers and boasts panoramic views of the horizon, bamboo forests on its shores, calm waters, and a vast blue sky above, creating a tranquil and poetic atmosphere for visitors there.
The Visitor Center is the centerpiece of a comprehensive development initiative for White Crane Lake. The challenge for the designers was placing a stylistically modern cultural building aimed at increasing tourism, in a natural environment defined by its quiet ambience. The project had a multitude of functional requirements to fulfill, while balancing the need to elegantly coexist with a landscape of forests, mountains, and the lake itself.
Design Concept
When the architect Jin’ang Yang was first formulating his design approach to the project, a simple solution would have been to take the materials and forms of the existing local houses in Jiangxi – and then abstracting and translating that language, essentially reinterpreting traditional architecture with a modern approach. However, considering that the building’s program requires nearly 3,000 square meters of area, it was quickly acknowledged that the appearance of a new, large-scale traditional Chinese-style building on the water's edge would be visually disturbing and incongruous with the nature surrounding it.
Upon visiting the site for the first time, the architect’s intuition and experience came into play and a general design approach was decisively determined. Rather than overtly associating with the local residential architectural style or excessively emphasizing traditional materials and methods of construction, the new building would instead accentuate the natural qualities and atmosphere of the site of White Crane Lake itself.
The Visitor Center is located on a tidal flat, surrounded by the lake on the north, south, and west sides of the site, with an extensive bamboo forest to the east. As the sun rises in the early morning, the lake is shrouded in dense clouds and mist which gently disperse themselves in the surrounding forests. Visitors walking through the forest at this time of day have the impression of simultaneously walking through trees and clouds, high in the sky.
Concept Sketch
In order to reduce its intervention on the environment, the volume of the building adopts a decentralized layout, so that its overall form is divided into a series of connected volumes which effectively reduces its perceived visual scale. The building’s design also incorporates rounded forms and curves, softening its relationship with its surroundings and giving the impression of flow and movement – the project invites visitors to stroll around it in order to take in its overall design, with the views of its form and environment constantly changing with every step, unfolding like a traditional Chinese scroll painting on the lake.
Material & Skin
The Architect choose a transparent glass volume to intervene in the environment, and then introduce a second layer of "bamboo skin". The skin floats up and down around the building, like the wings of a white crane, or like a leisurely bamboo cloud on the waterfront. The continuous skin integrates separate building volumes, giving them the appearance of continuity and integration with nature.
The defining line of the building’s envelope was established according to programmatic and formal considerations. Following this, secondary points along the envelope were chosen as a basis for the undulations of the skin, according to the building’s functions and the particular view of the landscape at each point – resulting in the semblance of a floating bamboo cloud from the exterior, and ensuring the best possible views from the interior public spaces.
The architect conducted a series of schematic explorations, looking at various potential patterns which could be incorporated. After considering horizontal and vertical grid-like versions of the skin, as well as an option of a series of interconnected pyramidal forms, a large number of computer analyses were made using Grasshopper software. In the end, the lightest option was chosen for its clear, translucent quality, and practical feasibility as a “woven” texture for the building’s skin.
Significant on-site testing of the exterior skin was conducted in order to ensure durability and the desired visual and tactile effect. In the end, the designer finally decided to adopt a special surface-treated metal alloy, which provides a robust material with a strong resemblance to natural bamboo, long-term viability, ease of maintenance, and overall cost. For a modestly scaled public building, it was deemed to be the best solution by all parties involved.
A comprehensive lighting system has been integrated into the building’s outer skin, so that when the sun goes down and darkness sets in, the complex external latticework brilliantly lights up. The building appears to shine, recalling a bamboo lantern floating on the lake, creating a visually memorable scene for visitors to the site.
Whirlpool Staircase & Rooftop Pool
In the courtyard enclosed by the building volume and a series of elevated walkways, the architect has carefully placed a spiral staircase: it allows visitors to ascend to the second-floor viewing platform from ground level, but also provides a strong visual focus for the courtyard space overall. Its concentric circular steps with changing radii and variegated side railing create a dynamic, complex shape which provides a creative tension with the other elements of the space.
Construction of Whirlpool Staircase A borderless pool has been incorporated into the roof terrace on the second floor, which has been designed so that the surface of its water seems to blend with the distant blues of the lake and sky beyond when looking over and across it. Function
The visitor center is divided into a number of clearly legible volumes, whose functions include a general reception area, restaurant, conference space, and VIP Club, among others.
The reception hall is located in the southwest portion of the site to offer convenient accessibility, the restaurant occupies the northwest side which offers the best views of the landscape, administration is in the quieter southeast corner, and the VIP Club is placed on the top floor to maximize views of the lake.
Conclusion
The architect took on the project with the intent of applying an approach informed by a kind of poetic imagination, ultimately arriving at the concept of "bamboo clouds on the water", allowing the new building to gently integrate with the surrounding mountains and forest, seamlessly taking its place among the natural elements of the area. The mist that rises from the lake in the early morning is transformed into an edifice which seems to hang in the air, receding into floating clouds of bamboo on the shore.

Project Name: Hutong Banquet
Project location: Beijing, China
Completion time: 2023
The human fireworks in the vestibule and backyard
"Four Seasons in the Courtyard, Beijing Memories"
The Hutong Banquet Beijing cuisine brand has been rooted in the industry for more than ten years. The high-quality Beijing cuisine is a specialty, inheriting and promoting traditional Beijing cuisine culture, also keeping pace with the times, innovating and developing. The restaurant is located in Beijing with an area of 5000 square meters, and the overall space is divided into three parts: scattered tables, private rooms, and banquets.
The spatial design combines the overall architectural characteristics with the memory of Beijing's Beijing style culture. The space is more suitable with the lifestyle of contemporary young people, and it is fashionable, atmospheric and modern which give people comfortable and warm feeling. Tasting delicious food is not only about savoring beautiful scenery, but also about enjoying the pleasure of eating in a comfortable environment. It can provide ample rest and relieve stress during the dining process.
The fusion of color and material in the scattered area, as well as the combination of virtual and real hollow partitions in the space achieve a hidden, concealed, exposed, and transparent environment, which is both outward and inward. Rammed earth enriches the texture of the space, while organic glass and water textured stainless steel enhance the transparency and modernity of the space. The calm Chinese red and textured metallic color complement the overall color scheme of the space. The unity, contrast, harmony, and movement between textures are integrated into every detail.
The courtyard offers a view of one room and one family, with a view of small bridges and flowing water throughout the four seasons. It is scaled down to a certain scale and placed in a certain space, with strange and rugged postures and textures, or clustered in pairs or small, or staggered in height or thickness, which forming a beautiful "miniature landscape". The sound of flowing water and smoke swirls, blending a thousand natural freehand brushwork into the delicate details of the city, creating a space full of fun.
The private room adopts a transparent technique, where you can see the landscape and flowing water of the courtyard in the room. Decorated with ancient calligraphy and painting:Drinking water and eating also drinking with each other. The hall is filled with colorful afterglow, similar to the endless flavor of human emotions in the smoke and fire.
The unforgettable memories of Beijing and the endless human fireworks.

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION

Jinghualou is a top-notch Beijing restaurant located on the central axis of Beijing, the ancient capital of China's Five Dynasties. Now it is managed by the heirs of the old imperial kitchen, and it is the masterpiece of Beijing cuisine brewed by Jingweizhai Catering Group with the experiences of more than 30 years of 20+ -restaurant daily operations. The chief designer, who was from the 4th generation of the most prestigious aristocratic family in Beijing, combined the royal context of the Forbidden City and the elegance of Western culture and successfully drew a picture of ukiyo-e of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China through a magnificent art of interior design.
Zhouxuan, the most famous singer in the Republic of China, sang a song to best describe a happy experience of having a drink at Jinghualou, “The moon shines brightly in the sky as the clouds are gone. We are here with each other to drink the wine, until we drink to our heart’s content.”
During the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, the country finally opened its doors to the world, and Western culture poured in. The cultures from the East and the West, the South and the North, started to blend with each other. With the drastic changes in history, the royal court had also stepped out of the high red wall and started immersing in other cultures.
Let’s take a tour of Jinghualou! Like the traditional restaurants outside crowded Qianmen, Jinghualou has the breathtaking blue walls and green tiles, which can be seen through bright glass screens. Passing through the entrance you can go up the stairs on both sides, and reach the main hall on the 2nd floor. The glittering crystal lamps shine upon the golden antique screen with Ink Colored Pine Forest and light up the entire reception. The pavillions and gardens surrounding it give out a noble touch of an aristocratic lifestyle.
Behind the golden screen is the greeting hall with two-crane on both sides listening to a spring. Right in the middle is the Taihu Lake Stone welcoming guests from all parts of the world. In the subtle gradations of light and shadow, you can sip a little by the stone or have a bite next to the bonsai. Guests can enjoy the exquisite plating of royal dish, and every one of them share the equal distance from the Stone, so they are equally taken as the guests of honor.
By passing by the garden bonsai, you can find a totally different world and enter the most auspicious place, the compartments. Each compartment has its own courtyard. You can walk along the axis pathway of three yards and finally enter the main courtyard. This is a design based on the old aristocratic house. You can take a rest or have a tea break at the courtyard. The openable screen between the compartments and the accordion door at each entry provide the privacies and honors you need. Well, let's toast for the peace, harmony, love, and also for our stunning beautiful Jinghualou.

Area: 270 square meters

Main Materials: art paint, fabric, rock board, wood veneer, leather, cave stone, elm wood

This project is the second residence designed by Lingoal Design for the homeowner. The couple has three lively and adorable children, and their ideal home is a harmonious emotional space. Their love for natural elements led them to desire an atmosphere of relaxation and freedom the moment they enter their home. Therefore, the designer, using time as a unit, incorporated love and warmth from daily life into the collective memory of this family of five.
In terms of layout, the original structure had several drawbacks. The kitchen and dining area on the first floor were relatively small, and the space was fragmented. The outdoor entrance to the living balcony made it less convenient to use, and the tea room had limited space. The second-floor hallway was narrow, resulting in wasted space. The proportions of the master bedroom's walk-in closet and the master bathroom were unbalanced, and there was no dedicated study, which meant a lack of a conducive environment for independent thinking. Furthermore, the attic space was underutilized.
As a result, the designer reconfigured the floor plan. On the ground floor, they broke away from the conventional layout by utilizing previously wasted hallway space to create a kitchen island, establishing a horizontal correspondence with the kitchen. The dining area was designed in a circular table format to fit the space and minimize the corridor area. The original tea room and living room walls were removed to create a concept of a horizontal hall, enhancing spatial visibility and openness. The fragmented spaces on the second floor were rearranged to form a master suite, providing the homeowners with a highly private and comfortable living space. It includes a separate spacious walk-in closet, bathroom, and study, fully catering to the daily needs of the male and female homeowners.
In the bustling city, creating a tranquil sanctuary for themselves and their children was the dream of the homeowners. Starting from this point, the designer transformed this four-bedroom, two-living-room residence located in the bustling city into a place where people coexist harmoniously with nature and return to the source, embodying the essence of wabi-sabi.
Good design not only meets the client's needs but also elevates the theme. The designer restructured the layout, transforming the originally narrow vertical hallway into a spacious horizontal hall that expands the scale of the space and establishes a sense of order. The elegant curved shape of the TV wall complements the sleek and minimalist built-in television, paired with vertical electric curtains, creating a sense of tenderness and sophistication in the home. The beautiful outdoor views are a sight to behold, in close proximity to nature, allowing the homeowners to experience the changing seasons and find their own rhythm, making home life more relaxed and comfortable.
The load-bearing wall in the living room is meticulously wrapped in natural old elm wood, adding a touch of scenery to the space. The warm leather sofa, natural wood, and textured lacquer with a pure and rustic texture collectively create the natural beauty of the interior.
The long island subtly serves as the boundary for the dining and kitchen areas in a relaxed and informal layout. The kitchen, dining room, and island effortlessly combine, cleverly concealing the kitchen in the corner to avoid the inconvenience of cooking fumes. The relaxed atmosphere is accentuated by the appropriately placed corridor. The walnut-colored round dining table, artistic cloud-shaped pendant light, and the interplay of white and wood add layers to the furniture, giving it aesthetic personality without adhering to the conventional.
The sight extends further, and the staircase area enhances the spatial rhythm through architectural composition, with attention to detail in the warm wood and beams, reinforcing the hierarchical relationship.
In the master bedroom suite, a comprehensive set of functions, including an independent bathroom, study, and a powerful wardrobe storage system, reflects the high-quality requirements of life. A creatively placed bathtub by the window invites interaction with the outdoors, making bathing a more enjoyable experience.
In the study, the antique chair tells stories of time, seasonal flowers adorn the space with atmosphere, and a plethora of books connect the past and present. Here, the hustle and bustle of the world seems to be left behind, leaving only tranquility and beauty.
A dedicated space is created to nurture the playful hearts of children. The design of the children's room transcends strict functionality and rationality, focusing on emotional expression and sensory experience

In recent years, the concept of co-working has arisen. There are many enthusiastic operators who set up their platforms for start-ups and create different kinds of Makerspace, equipping enterprises with better support and resources.
The design starts with the concept of " EcoSphere", a co-working environment that can bring great convenience for Makers and nurture a mature corporate environment.
This sparse and orderly "Ecosphere" provides a comfortable and private working environment for users to work and negotiate effectively. At the same time, the design of “partition” ensures an open and spacious spatial experience. This “EcoSphere” provides a great platform for discussion and negotiation in the entire building.

PROJECT

DESCRIPTION

This project is the inaugural VOCO hotel in the Greater China region for the IHG InterContinental Hotels Group's new upscale brand. It is located at the popular landmark in Chongqing, Chaotianmen, and currently stands as the flagship store for VOCO in the southwestern region of China under IHG.
Drawing inspiration from the lifestyle scenes of the Republic of China era, the design incorporates contemporary deconstructive techniques to disassemble and reapply these elements. Employing the language of Art Deco and featuring contemporary artistic expressions, three distinct bird characters (IP), the project revolves around the lifestyle of the Republic of China's capital, leading the public through an immersive journey blending the ancient and modern, fusing the East and West.
Upon entering the atrium, visitors are captivated by the contemporary urban scene and the intertwining views of the convergence of the two rivers, presented by exquisite copper rings. The bronze logo on the blue stone background wall competes for attention, narrating the brand's story. Continuing along the main route, within this space adorned with fire and lights, one feels as if they are in the reception room of a mansion belonging to a high-ranking official. Looking up, a large contemporary deconstructive chandelier composed of lampshades hovers above, making a bold statement of current fashion.
The hotel rooms adopt a backdrop featuring contemporary Republic of China-style wall panels, open-plan bathrooms, mosaic-like ceramic textures, brass metal accents, installation-style tree language, and artistic nostalgic installations. This creates a visual contrast and a unique Republic of China charm with a touch of modernity, establishing a contemporary experiential new lifestyle scene.
