Pearl Red was founded in Meizhou, the city of Hakka. It has been more than 70 years since its establishment in 1950. Pearl Red New Winery, this ecological winery that combines contemporary design with tradition, is located in the Huang Feng Wo Tourist Area, Xingning, Meizhou. It covers an area of 120,000 square meters. The architecture was designed to celebrate tradition, a rich reflection of Hakka culture.

The office buildings located in the middle of the winery is like a majestic Hakka Roundhouse, which responds to Chinese people’s philosophy of life—being flexible and accommodating while keep a righteous mind. The overhead bridge that connects each functional building is designed to display and present, providing consumers and visitors a unique window into the pearl red wine production and showing them the sincerity in centuries-old hand-making techniques. Its interior furnishing art was designed by SEPD with two years of hard work.
In the process, SEPD design creatively refines the concept from leisure and humanistic aesthetics, utilizing elements inspired by nature and turning them into a beautiful form of life, and striving to incorporate the charm and spirit of traditional culture into the contemporary design. With the vibrant design approach, an atmosphere with exquisite, warmness, simpleness and elegance is revealed.
Surrounded by tea mountains, the winery has superior ecological resources. The beautiful central courtyard is open to the public, drawing gentle breezes through the building and providing a fresh and relaxing environment.

Walking into the hall, there is the bamboo bushes with refreshing and painting like view for visitors to enjoy. The polygonal lighting with natural texture hanging under the high ceiling make the space interesting. The design is inspired by nature and borrows from nature, incorporating a simple aesthetic sense to create a natural place with virtual reality.
The Pearl Red Winery is an open place for visitors, with exhibitions, offices, and many other functions for them to see, taste, dine, and learn. The dining bar and bar area located on the first floor are designed with simple and elegant wood tones to erase the traces of deliberate carving, which responds to the purity, simplicity and sincerity of ancient winemaking.
There is a tea area at the back of the hall. The seasons of nature swaying from the outside penetrates the inside with its green bamboo singing like a poem. The furnishings are exquisite without lacking in novelty. With profound details and aesthetics, the space is expressed as a highland and a home for spiritual encounters, creating a free and beautiful space art form.

During the Wei and Jin dynasties, celebrities had their own romance. On the third day of March in the ninth year of Yonghe, the Lanting Gathering took place, becoming a charming story through the ages. Afterwards, the ritual of sitting alongside the creek waiting for the floating wine vessel to come and drink became a fun activity for those literati during gatherings. In this case, SEPD design introduces the concept of such ritual in traditional culture into the space design, bringing the spring, flowing water and green moss, etc. into the indoor space, and reinterpreting the ancients drinking by the creeks, reading poems and painting with modern language.
The design reflects the fun of life in the mountains and fields in details such as the flowing water and singing birds. The humanity and nature are perfectly combined, making the whole space full of tranquility and joy.
Here, the designer deliberately creates a comfortable and peaceful dining space, where people can rest or talk about life and their feelings at ease. Natural color hue is applied, exquisite and closer to nature overall. The fusion of Chinese and Western, the new and old has established a harmonious atmosphere. Whether it is wood decorations or black iron art, Chinese style chairs or modern chandeliers, they all play their parts perfectly in the overall space.

The furnishings of the space display an internal richness. Whether it is a color transition or a material change, everything happens inadvertently. It is simple and warm, which makes people feel relaxed and comfortable deep down. The unique warm texture of the log stays, helping build a poetic slow life.
As the designer said: "The beauty of the space does not lie in showing an excellent visual appearance, but in the presentation of a beautiful lifestyle that meets the internal needs."
The private room is designed in a simple approach reflecting Chinese aesthetic interest, which is graceful and peaceful. The wood dining table is matched with the stylized new Chinese circle chair to express the dignified Chinese sentiment. The overall space is infused with the warmth of wood with clean color tune, keeping the simplicity and elegance of the space. The two white sofas are plain and comfortable, echoing with frankness and sincerity, also naturally combing and the contemporary texture with traditional grace.

The design of the VIP room resonates with the straightforward personality of the West and the calmness and elegance of the East. The chic ceiling design is set against the lighting, adding more fun to the space.
The brown logs overflow with a sense of tranquility and calmness. The simple and reserved new Chinese furniture is dotted with natural floral art to create an elegant and natural, simple and noble vibe.
There is a VIP lounge area in a secluded corner. The overall space is comfortable and relaxing. The uniquely shaped black coffee table not only echoes with the spiral staircase on one side, but also looks exactly like the undulating shape of tea mountains outside. The white modern sofa lies next to the new Chinese-style chair, which is chic but not weird, highlighting the style of the space.
Follow nature, illustrate nature, and live with nature, observe or zone out in nature. The leisure terrace overlooks the green tea garden and the original wood-color wave art installation echo with the shape of the mountain, so the fresh vibe indoor naturally continues.
Finally, as the chief designer put it: "To present a meaningful space environment design, we have to borrow the power from culture and express the beauty of lifestyle, then eventually reach to the classic and touching sentiment. It can be taken from nature or culture. Beauty has the power to take your breath at first sight. With the amazing culture in front of us, what we can do is to be humbler and more consistent, showing it in the space in various creative ways, which is something we never stop to explore.”
