DESCRIPTION


The designer has been thinking about how to create a ‘cassette’ space, that he drew on the original architectural construction into space design, for extension of purity of architecture. It is alternation of ancient and modern, the combination of suppression and relief. By using cubes for ceiling,the crawl space is abundant in many detailed changes, the abandoned building gets the strength of creative rebirth. Unlike the traditional real estate sales center, the project is the renovation, and it needs carry the sales and display of two different positioned products. Laterly, it must be transformed into an open commercial space for achieving a balance between two stages.

The reservedness of the Chinese culture versus the straightforwardness of the western culture. Through the restriction of color and the space with ‘blank left’, the design expresses a unique modern oriental high-level artistic conception of purity, nature and simplicity. The charm of the city does not lie in its physical appearance, but in the history and culture. Guangzhou, the famous city on the Maritime Silk Road, has a great inclusiveness of injecting the charm of Lingnan Culture into peaceful and elegant life. By using pendent pumice stones, the space presents a vigorous posture and visual effect to the integration of objects and space, which represent supernatural craftsmanship of nature over the years, as a time-honored oriental civilization.

The looming ‘mountain art painting’ glass of the lobby, is both a barrier and a medium, forming a long corridor, improving dynamism, and increasing the sense of travel and perception of the outside world. The columns and stones spontaneously emerge the oriental aesthetics, while the cooperation of the virtuality and the reality reveals the balance of art.
The water element, as spring rain moistens everything silently, create a modern oriental aesthetic of ‘love between mountains and rivers’. With the water element of Lingnan culture, ‘cassette’ space gives a clear relationship between the interior and exterior spaces. The frame is the boundary, the frame is the scenery, it demonstrates the proper landscape technique, and combines the nature and art.

When people step into leisure and elegant space from the outside world, they will gather around the fire because it lets them temporarily forget the sense of alienation. Above all things, people need communication, precisely the elegant space provides the condition.
